What is Tjuvholmen?

Tjuvholmen ("Thief Island") is Oslo's stylish waterfront neighbourhood, located just minutes from Aker Brygge and the city centre. It's home to some of Oslo's best restaurants, all with outdoor terraces facing the Oslo Fjord. Because of the surrounding buildings and the orientation of the peninsula, sun conditions vary significantly between restaurants – and between lunch and dinner.

Which Tjuvholmen restaurants have sun at lunchtime?

If you're after a sunny lunch, head to VentiVenti, The Salmon, Døgnvill Burger, VIN Tjuvholmen or Kenzai – all of these get sun from early in the day. Sjømagasinet catches the sun from around 12:40 and is a great option for a late sunny lunch.

Prefer shade for your midday meal? Hanami, Amazonia by BAR, Olivia and New Delhi are all in the shade during the first part of the day.

For a sun-drenched dinner, Sjømagasinet, Hanami, Amazonia by BAR and Olivia are your best bets – all keeping sun on their terraces well into the evening. Døgnvill Burger and VIN Tjuvholmen also hold onto the sun until around 8 PM.
