About this series:
The backdrop for this series is the beautiful moon-like landscape of Hardangervidda which I began photographing after I started snow kiting.
Harnessing the raw power of nature as I kite gives me an intense joy and at the same time leaves me feeling small and vulnerable knowing that I am at the mercy of the wind.
As a photographer I have hunted these dragon-like kites on mountain plateaus the way one searches for dolphins at sea. When they appear on the horizon, the white desolate ice fills with life and merges into a colourful dance with nature.
I have waited patiently with my camera, on many occasions, to capture these poetic moments, that only the weather and its winds can stage.
This series was photographed from 2015-2019.
About the artist:
Charlotte Sverdrup is a commercial photographer based in Oslo who works concurrently with her own projects. Her images have been exhibited in Oslo and London and will be exhibited in New York later this year.
