Writing Workshop with Simen Hagerup

It is often easy to describe what we see. But how do we find the words for what art sets in motion in us? Simen Hagerup leads an ekphrastic writing workshop based on Nairy Baghramian and the work Dwindler_Prone_up (2018).

Nairy Baghramian was born in Isfahan, Iran, in 1971, and has lived and worked in Berlin since 1984. She works with sculpture and installation, often with references to architecture and the human body. Dwindler_Prone_up is a sculpture in glass, zinc-coated metal, and epoxy resin. The work was originally part of a series of sculptures with fragmented glass tubes held together by zinc bands and a chemical sealant. The shapes can be reminiscent of functional pipes or channels, with a patina of sooty traces.
