Sunday Talk with Anne Weyer-Larsen

Talk with art mediator Anne Weyer-Larsen about the artist Børre Sæthre.

Børre Sæthre's all-encompassing installations

Børre Sæthre is one of Norway's most significant contemporary artists, known for his all-encompassing installations where architecture, sound and light merge into a holistic, sensory experience.

Starting from the work My Private Sky (2001) which is on display in the Astrup Fearnley Collection, the lecture will follow his artistry over the past ten years. Particularly highlighted through the trilogy Ghost Arcade (2019), The Sound of the Atom Splitting (2021) and Last Dance (2023), Weyer-Larsen will show how Sæthre highlights forgotten places and lost communities, and how beauty and sorrow, celebration and loss can be two sides of the same coin. This period in his artistry also shows how he has turned his attention to queer history, the legacy of the AIDS crisis and the public spaces where marginalized lives once lived in hiding.
